As a bride, it can be difficult to know who to trust, from the huge array of information on the internet, in magazines and social media. Here are a few of our trusted sources.
They say: “Brides Up North has been named “Best Blog for Northern Brides” by Channel 4, crowned “Best Big Day Inspiration” blog in the Wedding Magazine Awards 2013, listed in Easy Wedding Search’s Top 100 UK Wedding Blogs and in Bride Tide’s Top 100 Wedding Blogs in The World 2011, 2012 and 2013. Brides Up North has also won several “Wedding Industry Experts” Awards, both for our online content and wedding exhibitions.”
We say: “Brides Up North have a wealth of info available for Northern Brides, with blogs, networking opportunities, a suppliers’ directory and their own wedding fairs. A must-read for any bride north of Birmingham”
Our partners UKbride have had 400,000 members across the country since their founding, and is a hugely valuable resource for brides across the country. Billed as ‘Social Networking for Brides’, UKbride has a hugely popular forum, as well as straightforward systems for requesting information from suppliers, quotes and much more. There’s also some great content-based information, full of tips and advice on how to plan your wedding.
Hitched is a very popular website amongst brides, full of inspiration and planning tools. But Hitched’s main focus is a comprehensive system for finding suppliers near you. You’ll find all manner of venues, bridalwear, gifts, photographers, videographers, florists and more listed on Hitched, with straightforward tools to explore each of them.
The weddings section on Pinterest is a brilliant place to find inspiration for your big day. Full of wacky and wonderful imagery – there’s a goldmine of ideas available. They say a picture can paint a thousand words – well, on Pinterest, it’s true. No text other than captions, Pinterest is all about images. With comprehensive search tools and millions of pictures and photographs available, now’s a great time to explore the new world of Pinterest.
The traditional ways of getting your information can often be the best. There’s an added validation associated with paper-based promotion that the online world is still working to displace. Whether it’s Lancashire Life, Cheshire Life, Live Ribble Valley or even a specialist wedding magazine like County Brides, most of the leading venues and bridalwear outlets still use paper advertising as a first port of call to ensure visibility amongst the newly-engaged.
Wedding Fairs & Shows
We recommend every bride-to-be attends two or three wedding fairs to get a taste of what’s out there. Little White Books, NQNW and Bliss organise some of our favourite ones across the North West. Aside from the main Summer months, you’ll easily find wedding fairs near you every Sunday daytime. It’s also worth checking out the big ones – The National Wedding Show organise events in Manchester twice a year and will include a huge array of suppliers who will love to make a fuss of you.
